How ST ignition coils are produced?
Were you ever curious about how ignition coils are manufactured. Normally it will go through 5 processes: plastic parts injection, copper wire winding, components assembly, epoxy resin potting, and testing. Each step with good material and advance equipment will make coils high quality, especially winding and potting.
The cooper wire of secondary winding has only 0.04-0.06mm OD dimension with thousands turns, which request high technology winding machine to complete winding without any broken wires.
Vacuum die-casting also plays an important role for coils covering and insulation. The temperature and pressure have to be under controlled by equipment strictly to finish this process. No bubble or dust allowed inside the coil before resin curing.
ST non-dust workshop helps much to make high quality ignition coil, because any dust or moisture in the coil may make breakdown easily.
